Project Description

Project resources
The sword project is " The SWORD Project is the CrossWire Bible Society's free Bible software project. Its purpose is to create cross-platform open-source tools-- covered by the GNU General Public License-- that allow programmers and Bible societies to write new Bible software more quickly and easily. We also create Bible study software for all readers, students, scholars, and translators of the Bible, and have a growing collection of over 200 texts in over 50 languages."

It should be possible to integrate sword into plone, which I have dubbed 'hilt'. These current plone projects may be useful in developing hilt.

Azax "Quicker UI for Plone with Ajax : fewer full page reloads, instant validation. Includes KSS : ajax javascript framework that apply dynamicity through stylesheets." This would allow the different 'windows' of sword to be reloadable without needing frames.

Database integration
: There quite a few database integration products that could be modified to use the sword database.

Import/Export Products: There are several xml import/export products in plone. Of particular interest would be
Marshall Archetypes content needs flexible representations for interacting with other systems. Marshall provides a pluggable system for getting and setting content, including a default XML system.

TextIndexNG: TextIndexNG is a new fulltext index for Zope and is the most feature-complete solution for fulltext indexing under Zope.

CMFBibliographyAT
: CMFBibliography enables the handling of references to various types of publications as they are used mainly in the context of scientific publications. In order to allow for interoperability with other applications that support reference handling, the information within individual references is highly structured. The concrete schema used depends on the kind of publication one wants to make reference to, so there is a variety of different reference types to choose from. The overall schema design follows closely BibTeX's approach, a very flexible and powerfull reference management system that comes with LaTeX.

Future products
PloneOntology
: "PloneOntology is an ontology based replacement for the existing keyword mechanism in Plone." A very nice product that could be used to as a later extension of hilt.

These products could form part of the solution.

Also of note is the ScriptureChallengeBox The Scripture Challenge Box is a Zope DHTML widget for memorizing the Scriptures. It works on Mozilla and Internet Explorer. It does not yet work in Konqueror because of some known limitations.

Once sword is integrated, it could be used in many ways, eg daily readings, etc.
It would also form the basis of integrating the Catechism into plone, thus plone being able to serve up c3ml.
